Many programs to allow you to interact with current SFC students will be available, including campus tours and communication corners. Please visit our campus to get an interactive taste of its lush environments.(Advance reservations required. Depending on the spread of infections by COVID-19, this event may be canceled.)

Planned activities to experience the campus, those to interact with current SFC students, and Q&A sessions will form the core of this year's Open Campus program. A variety of on-demand videos (e.g., introduction to undergraduate faculties, mock lectures, information on admissions process) to learn about SFC (the Faculty of Policy Management, and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies) will be made available online. We hope you will watch these videos prior to the Open Campus to further enhance your event experience.

Important notes

To ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus, we ask that only those who can follow the rules be allowed to participate.

  • Please take your temperature before coming on to campus, wear a mask, disinfect your hands, and avoid the three “Cs” (closed spaces/crowded places/close-contact settings).
  • If you are feeling unwell, such as a fever or cold-like symptoms, please do not come to campus.
  • Please take your temperature and disinfect your hands at the reception desk. Persons found to have a fever will not be allowed to participate in the Open Campus event.
  • We will confirm your reservation at the reception desk in front of the main building. Those who have not made the reservation will not be able to participate in the event.
  • Please use public transportation on the day to come to the venue (parking is not available). We ask that you check the bus schedule in advance. For those who will be using wheelchairs, please contact us in advance.
  • Some classrooms will be set up on campus for participants to take breaks, though we ask that participants use on-campus restaurants for meals and eat in silence, as well as wearing a mask after eating and drinking.
  • Please note that the event may be urgently canceled due to the spread of COVID-19, bad weather, or other extenuating circumstances. Please be sure to check your inbox the day before the event to make sure that you have not received an email stating that the event has been canceled.
Notes when making a reservation

Reception will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Ω (Omega) Building; we ask that you arrive at SFC by 10:30 a.m.

Please feel free to use the University Co-op Store, Co-op Cafeteria, SUBWAY, and convenience store.
(You can use them even before having your name checked at the reception desk)

FAQ

  • Do I need to make a reservation in advance?
    Only those who have made a reservation in advance using the designated form will be able to participate.
  • Which date should I participate in? Is the content different?
    The event content is the same in all dates.
  • Can first-year high school students participate? Can I be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or can a parent or guardian participate by themselves?
    Both are open for participation. High school students and their parents or guardians are welcome to attend, as well as a parent or guardian who wishes to participate by themselves.
    However, there is a limit of 3 people per group. If more than 4 people apply, the secretariat office will reduce the number of participants to 3 people. We kindly ask for your understanding.
  • Are any additional reservations accepted after the reservation period?
    Although no additional reservations will be accepted, the slots may be reserved if there are any cancellations.
  • Is it possible to change the number of participants or cancel the reservation after it has been made?
    We do not accept changes in the number of participants after making a reservation. If you wish to cancel your participation, please follow the cancellation procedure from the link in the confirmation email.
    It is possible to participate with fewer people than originally reserved.
  • Will not participating in the Open Campus affect my admission?
    There are no advantages or disadvantages in terms of admission or entrance examinations.
  • I can't attend the Open Campus. Are there any other events? Is there another opportunity to visit the campus?
    This will be the only Open Campus event held at SFC this year.

  • Is there anything I need to bring?
    At the reception desk, the staff will check your confirmation e-mail.
    The event will be held during the hot and humid season, so please bring your own beverages and stay hydrated. There are also shops and vending machines on campus, but they may be sold out at certain times.
  • What should I wear?
    There is no dress code. Please wear something comfortable as per usual. You may have to walk in areas where there is nothing to block the sunlight, so please bring a hat, sunglasses, or a parasol if necessary.
  • How can I get to the campus?
    Please check the following website and take public transportation. On the day of the event, buses will be available from the west side of Shonandai Station or Tsujido Station. Due to the fact that this event is held during summer vacation, there may be times when bus services are limited. Please make sure to check the timetable in advance. Buses from Tsujido Station tend to be less crowded.
  • Those handing out fliers at or near the train station or campus
    The distribution of fliers and solicitation activities by off-campus groups such as prep schools and cram schools on or near the university, as well as around train stations, etc., are not related to the university in any way.
  • I will be participating in the event from afar. Are there any hotels or other accommodations near the campus?
    There are hotels and other accommodations around nearby stations (Shonandai Station, Tsujido Station, etc.).
    We will not be providing any information on this matter, so please make your own arrangements.
  • Is there a place to leave large items such as carry-on bags on the day of the event?
    We will not store any luggage (including hand luggage) at the venue. Please manage it by yourself. For particularly large luggage, please use the coin lockers (limited in number) available at the train stations.
  • Are there places to eat?
    On the day of the event, you are able to take meals at the Co-op Cafeteria, University Co-op Store, and Student Lounge (SUBWAY). Classrooms will be set up on campus for participants to take breaks, though we ask that participants use on-campus restaurants for meals and eat in silence, as well as wearing a mask after eating and drinking.
  • Is it possible to consult with the admissions office about AO, GIGA, etc.?
    There will not be a consultation booth for entrance exams on the day. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Office on weekdays by e-mail.

  • Can I meet with faculty members at the Open Campus event?
    Individual consultation with faculty members will not be available. To learn about SFC faculty members and their research, please check the on-demand videos, or their publications and details of their Seminar activities on the SFC website.
